What is CEREC?
Using CEREC technology, we are able to add fillings and crowns in a single office visit, giving you the option of fast and effective results.
When you chip or damage a tooth, the effects can be both uncomfortable, embarrassing, and dangerous for your dental health. On the other hand, some people would like a cosmetic enhancement as quickly as possible for things like wedding photos or an important event.
What is CAD / CAM Technology?
Traditionally, in order to make a dental filing or crown, dentists must create a mold of your tooth. This mold is used to manufacture an artificial piece that fits snugly into gaps or covers missing pieces.
Instead of using molds, CEREC technology uses a picture to create artificial parts. Computer aided design (CAD) and 3D digital imaging create inlays, overlays, crowns, or veneers within a couple of hours. We are able to fix chips, provide cosmetic veneers or enhancements, and offer additional restorative services.
Patients have the ability to transform their smiles in a quick visit, and our dentists have total control of the color and appearance of veneers without outsourcing to a lab. Removing this step of communication produces extremely accurate results.
How long do CEREC crowns last?
CEREC crowns typically last anywhere from 10-15 years. The CEREC crown should be treated like a real tooth, so proper care such as brushing will extend the life of the crown. Things like teeth grinding or damaging your crown can significantly shorten the lifespan of your crown.
